Graeme and Diane Philip bought John Herber Ltd in 1979 and have been manufacturing Stage Draperies, Cyclorama's, Gauzes etc ever since. John himself was manufacturing Cyc's and Gauzes for a few years prior to them obtaining the business and spent many years as a stage hand at the Theatre Royal in Christchurch. Mark their son joined John Herber Ltd when he left school at the age of 16, and completed an apprenticeship in Canvas Fabrication along with the core business of Stage Daperies. Mark has now been working in the business 20 years and has worked his way up to become a shareholder/Director and runs a very tightly controlled manufacturing department. 

All John Herber materials for Stage Draperies, Gauze's, Cyc's etc are imported and Fire Retardant to meet all NZ Building Code Fire Safety Std

Last year, they launched two new products within their company - Acoustiflect (Acoustic Panels) and NZ Fire Shield. They have had many enquiries on the Acoustic panels and have now 12 in Manukau Events Centre which have proved very successful. The new Centre in KeriKeri are also negotiating to purchase some.  New Zealand Fire-Shield a subsidiary company of John Herber Ltd has also been very successful.

2005 was another successful year with some major venues being refurbished and new venues being built, such venues as Civic in Invercargill, Theatre Royal Christchurch, Events Centre in KeriKeri, and new Drama facilities for schools etc, plus manufacturing many Gauze's, Cyclorama's Curtains for smaller venues and shows such as Beauty and Beast currently in production around NZ. No job is to big or to small, Graeme is quiet happy to offer free advise on your venue etc should you require.

Mehron have released another product range called Paradise Makeup which is lovely and is great for pantomimes etc.  This is a semi-soft, water activated, moist cake makeup. The unique blend of ingredients includes aloe and chamomile to help make Paradise Makeup AQ safe and gentle on the skin.  Glycerin, avocado oil and cocoa butter provide rich, vibrant colour-saturated coverage.  It requires no special removers, washes off easily.
